Steve Herne is a Lecturer in Art in Education at Goldsmiths College, University of London where he was formally responsible for the general, specialist and studio practice art courses within the Primary BA(Ed.) programme. He currently co-ordinates and teaches the Creativity and Learning, Visual Arts, and Studio Practice courses on the Education, Culture and Society (ECS) BA(Hons) programme. He also contributes to the MA Artist Teachers and Contemporary Practices. He has served as an Education Advisor to the London Arts Board, is a Co-Editor of The International Journal of Art & Design Education (iJADE) and was the former editor of the London Association for Art and Design Education Newsletter and Website. His research interests include curriculum studies, situated learning, communities of practice, museum and gallery education, artists in schools and arts education evaluation. He currently undertakes a variety of research and evaluation projects concerning the visual arts in education.
