John A. Barnden
John A. Barden is Professor of Computer Science at The University of Birmingham. His research lies within Artificial Intelligence and is focused on understanding metaphorical utterances and representing and reasoning about mental states of agents. He has coauthored and coedited a substantial number of publications.

Barden achieved a BA with First Class Honors in Mathematics from Cambridge University in 1971 and, the following year, a Diploma in Computer Science (a Master's level degree). He subsequently earned a D.Phil. from Oxford University in 1976.
