Stephen Hart teaches Latin American film and literature at University College London, and runs an annual summer school on documentary film-making at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television in Cuba. He is the author of A Companion to Latin American Cinema (2004) and Chiaroscuro: The Life and Work of Julio Garcia-Espinosa (book + DVD) (2011). He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima, Peru in 2004. He is currently working on a book on Latin American film for Reaktion Press.
