Nieves Herrero

Nieves Herrero received her Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1991 and currently teaches anthropology there. She has studied the work of the French anthropologist Marcel Mauss, as well as the way of life of a small Galician parish following the establishment of a coal mine in its valley. She is currently researching the impact of the marketization of heritage on rural development based on tourism in Galicia. Her publications include As Encobras: unha memoria expropiada (Novo Século, 1995) and ‘Paisajes de una mina a cielo abierto’ in Los últimos mineros (Siglo XXI-CIS, 2003).
