Pádraig Ó Gormaile

Pádraig Ó Gormaile is Professor of French at the National University of Ireland. Former president of the Association for Canadian Studies in Ireland, he was awarded the Prix du Québec in 1992, is Chevalier des Palmes académiques and Membre correspondant de la Société d'Histoire littéraire de la France. He has published on the Breton-born French writer Jean Sulivan (1913-1980), on Ireland and the Irish in Québec literature and has translated the poems of Pearse Hutchinson from Irish to French. Elected conseiller municipal in a rural village in SW France in 2008, he is currently carrying out research on several literary and historical figures from the Poitou-Charentes region.
