Katrien Pype

Katrien Pype earnt her doctoral degree (2008, Catholic University of Leuven) with a dissertation on the interaction between visual media and religion in post-Mobutu Kinshasa. Currently, she works on a postdoctoral research project (2009-2011) that studies visual media, memory and politics in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's festive year 2010. This research is funded by a British grant (Newton International Fellowship), and is conducted at the University of Birmingham (Centre of West African Studies).
