Anthony Szczesiul is associate professor of English at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, where he teaches nineteenth- and twentieth-century American literature and southern literature and culture. He is the author of Racial Politics and Robert Penn Warren’s Poetry (University Press of Florida, 2002), and he is currently completing a book on the discourse of southern hospitality.
