Janez Strehovec received his Ph.D. in Aesthetics from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1988. Since 1993 he has been working as principal researcher for projects on cyberarts, e-literature and the Internet culture. He is a part-time Associate Professor for New Media Theories at University of Ljubljana and the author of seven books in the field of cultural studies and aesthetics published in Slovenia. His most recent book is The Text and New Media (2007).
He has also published in journals such as the Journal of Popular Culture, Afterimage, Dichtung Digital, Organdy Quarterly, Cybertext Yearbook, Glimpse, Topos, Digital Creativity ,and C-Theory, and has presented papers at conferences in Europe, Mexico, Australia, Singapore and the United States. Some of his essays are also published as scientific book chapters (e.g. in R. Simanowski et al. "Reading Moving Letters", P. Majkut : "Phenomenology and Media", and P. Bootz and C. Baldwin: "Regards Croises")
Currently he works as a Principal Investigator at European research project (as a part of Hera JRP) on E-Literature as a Model of Creativity and Innovation in Practice , which involves seven European research partners.
