Wendy Willems

Wendy Willems is a lecturer in Media Studies at the School of Literature and Language Studies at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Her research interests include popular culture and informal politics in Africa, new media cultures, media anthropology, audiences and citizenship, media and nationalism and discourse theory. She hold a Ph.D. from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Her full thesis title is 'Imagining the power of the media: global news, nationalism and popular culture in the context of the Zimbabwe crisis' (2000-07).
