We would like to invite contributions to the Journal of Chinese Cinemas, the only English-language, refereed academic journal devoted solely to the study of Chinese film. Launched in 2007, the Journal is growing from strength to strength, and now invites high quality submissions on any aspect of Chinese cinemas, including not only films from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Chinese diaspora, but also articles exploring cross-cultural flows between Chinese cinemas and other world cinemas. Some suggested topics of interest are:
- Rethinking “popular” and/or “mass” cinema
- New development and historical milestones in Chinese film theory
- Films focusing on climate change, ecological concerns and migration (both internal and transnational)
