Martin Mhando

Martin Mhando, a Tanzanian-born resident, is currently chairman of the board of directors of the Zenj Arts Initiative and a director of Jicho Communicative Ltd, a film production and training company registered in Zanzibar, Tanzania. He is also Chair of the Film Lab Zanzibar (FLZ), a media training programme focusing on documentary training in East Africa and co-editor of the Journal of African Cinemas, published by Intellect, United Kingdom. He is also a filmmaker with award-winning feature and documentary film credits. His other accomplishments include being the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award (ZIFF 2012), having served ZIFF for over 15 years as CEO and Festival Director, as well as a recipient of the Zeze Award 2006 – in Tanzania – as an acknowledgement of his contribution to the arts in Tanzania.
