Glenna Batson
Glenna Batson, P.T., Sc.D., M.A., Professor Emeritus, Physiotherapy, Winston – Salem State University, USA, faculty American Dance Festival and Hollins/ADF M.F.A. programme (1986/2004), internationally recognized teacher, Alexander Technique (qualified 1989); three decade synthesis of dance science somatics theory and practice as scholar, dance educator and practitioner; Fulbright Senior Specialist, London (Trinity Laban Conservatoire, 2009) and Estonia (2011). Her current research interests include the effects of improvisational dance on Parkinson’s disease and of the Alexander Technique on balance in the elderly, and validating assessment tools for balance in dancers. She is co-editor of Somatics and Spiritualities: Contemporary Sacred Narratives (Intellect Press, 2012). She is author of Body and Mind in Motion – Somatics as Science in 21st Century Dance (Intellect Press, 2013).
