In our fast-changing modern world, popular culture plays a central, critical role in the education of youth and in the development of youthful identity. The ubiquity of television, music, films, gaming and Internet access have together transformed both the nature and pace of personal growth and maturation.
This series will offer scholars a new context for examining the role of popular culture in education. The series will focus on titles that explore the relationships among cultural studies, curriculum studies and critical/transformational pedagogy. Situating issues of identity, popular culture and education within a broader social framework wil open up new scholarly debates and allow for greater exploration of curriculum understandings and pedagogical practice.
