Ruth Beer
Dr Ruth Beer is an artist and Professor of Visual Art in the Faculty of Visual Art and Material Practice at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She is interested in interdisciplinary approaches to artistic, collaborative and pedagogical practices. Her sculptures and videos have been shown in national and international exhibitions. Her recent artwork addresses social history and geo/marine conditions focused on the Pacific Northwest region. In 2013 she was awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Grant (2013–2017) for ‘Trading routes: Grease trails, oil futures’, a project involving research and the creation of artworks, exhibitions and storytelling.
