Heather Raikes
Heather Raikes is a physical/media artist and researcher. She is currently an advanced research associate with the Planetary Collegium, and holds a Ph.D. from DXARTS, University of Washington. Exhibitions and performances of her artwork include HEREArt Mainstage (New York), Aaron Davis Hall (New York), On the Boards (Seattle), The Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), SIGGRAPH (Boston), The International Festival of Performance (Barcelona), Culturgest (Lisbon), E-Poetry (Paris), Imaginaria International Film Festival (Conversano, Italy), Inscriptions In the Sand (Famagusta, Cyprus), the San Diego Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Her writings have been published in the International Journal of Art, Culture and Design Technologies (IJACDT), Body/Space/Technology, The American Communication Journal, PoeticaNet, New River Journal and in the book Technologically Expanded Dance. Raikes has held academic positions at the University of Washington, the University of California San Diego and Temple University. She is also a former dancer with the Erick Hawkins Dance Company.
