Luis Sequeira
Luís Miguel Sequeira is a Ph.D. student at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD, Portugal), researching the use of virtual worlds for educational and business purposes. His professional, non-academic career began by developing Portugal’s first commercial Internet Service Provider, back in 1994; on the subsequent decades his main field of work was Unix system administration and network engineering. In 2004 he discovered the virtual world platform Second Life®, and, a few years later, he co-launched a company to commercially develop 3D content in virtual worlds. Many of the customers were academic institutions, which prompted him to further research virtual worlds and its opportunities.
