All articles submitted should be original work and must not be under consideration by other publications.

Indian Theatre Journal invites papers in all fields of Indian theatre, dance, music and its related areas such as intercultural theatre, performance studies, South Asian diaspora, postcolonial and political theatre. Proposals are invited to the following themes, but not limited to: 

  • Bodily Practices: practice as research, intercultural performer training
  • Dance: choreography and movement techniques
  • Devising, direction and performance making: Indian approaches   
  • Indian methods of training (acting, dancing, singing and martial arts)
  • Indian music and ethnomusicology    
  • Intercultural theatre: training, performance and criticism
  • Multimedia, digital and installations
  • Natyasastra 
  • Playwriting
  • Political theatre: street as theatre, political demonstration etc.
  • Shakespeare and Ibsen in Indian theatre
  • Traditional theatre: innovation, technology and transformation
  • Women in Indian theatre

Journal contributors will receive a free PDF copy of their final work upon publication. Print copies of the journal may also be purchased by contributors at half price.
