Editor of Videogames and Art directs the development of Wii playground games

Grethe Mitchell, co-editor of Videogames and Art, is directing the development of Wii playground game, just one strand of a £600,000 project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council's Beyond Text programme.

The aims of the project are to study how the oral traditions of playground games relate to children’s media cultures: how children’s experience of media narratives, images, music becomes part of the changes in the oral tradition over time; and how traditional playground games might find a new form on physically interactive platforms like the Wii. Further information about the project can be found here

A second edition of Videogames and Art is due to be published by Intellect in late 2010.
