‘Media, Democracy and Governance: Emerging Paradigms in a Digital Age’

AMIC is a research centre, a resource centre, a publishing house and it conducts training and professional consultations. It was established in 1970 to a large extent by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Institute of Germany and UNESCO. AMIC has a secretariat of approximately 10 people and its chief supporters are Nanyang Technical University, Singapore which houses the Centre and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.


Next year AMIC will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary and it will be marking this occasion by holding its conference in conjunction with the ICA in Singapore. In addition to its annual conference (held in a different country each year) it also organises five to ten smaller workshops throughout the year.
