Intellect opens office on UNC Wilmington Campus

Intellect is announcing the opening of an American editorial office on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Spearheaded by the Department of Film Studies, this partnership will offer unique opportunities for Intellect, as well as for students and faculty on campus, including the publication of a new undergraduate academic journal called Film Matters.

Film Matters will be one of the first undergraduate, peer-reviewed journals in the world offering students an unmatched opportunity to showcase their academic talent. Intellect executives will participate as lecturers in a new undergraduate course developed to publish the journal. Their participation will give students an inside look at the world of academic publishing. The Intellect office on the UNCW campus, located in the film studies department, will also serve as a placement office for student interns.

Faculty will work closely with Intellect representatives who will literally be located around the corner from them. The opinion and advice of Intellect staff will be invaluable to UNCW faculty in arts disciplines who are working to publish their research and creative endeavors in the highly competitive academic environment.

"UNCW will have one of the most dynamic scholarly presses in the arts housed on our campus. What a wonderful way to foster our collective goal of creating a powerful learning experience for our students," said Liza Palmer, UNCW's creative and fine arts librarian and co-editor of Film Matters.

As part of the agreement, Randall Library at UNCW will receive subscriptions to all 64 journals and free copies of all books published by Intellect from 2009 forward.
