Join us to celebrate the Directory of Cinema: France and Film Matters

Come celebrate Intellect’s collaboration with the University of North Carolina Wilmington Film Studies department, at a reception on Tuesday, February 5th at 5 pm.  All are welcome to join us in the Clock Tower Lounge of Fisher Student Center, located on the UNCW campus.

The event is open to the public and will help launch two publications from Intellect: The Directory of World Cinema: France, edited by UNCW’s own Dr. Tim Palmer along with Dr. Charlie Michael, and the latest issue of Film Matters, the international undergraduate film journal produced on campus.
DWC: France is a revisionist encyclopedia of French film.  It features reviews by leaders in international film studies and takes a fresh look at both recognized classics of French cinema as well as often over-looked gems. The book includes contributions from UNCW Film Studies faculty including Carlos Kase, Mariana Johnson and Liza Palmer. Dr. Palmer will give a presentation entitled “What’s so Great About French Cinema?” at the start of the evening.
The event will also re-launch Film Matters, edited by Liza Palmer and Tim Palmer.  FM is the only peer-reviewed, undergraduate film journal in the world. The Palmers founded the publication in 2010 and the students in Ms. Palmer’s Producing the Undergraduate Film Magazine course serve as the editorial board.  Dave Monahan, department chair of Film Studies, says, “Film Matters offers students from around the world an unmatched opportunity to showcase their academic talent.”
