Ipek Türeli

Ipek Türeli is Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Architectures of Spatial Justice at McGill University. Her publications include the co-edited book Orienting Istanbul: Cultural Capital of Europe? (with Deniz Göktürk and Levent Soysal, Routledge, 2010; published in Turkish as İstanbul Nereye?, Metis Yayınları, 2011) and her Istanbul Open City: Exhibiting Anxieties of Urban Modernity (Routledge, 2018; İstanbul Açık Şehir, Metis Yayınları, 2021). She edited a special issue of the International Journal of Islamic Architecture in 2013 on ‘Streets of Protest’. Türeli’s recent research interests include low-income housing and participatory design, civil protest and urban design, and campus landscapes and race.
